Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for combat veterans?

No. If you wore the uniform — any branch, any era, combat or not — you belong here. You don't have to justify your reasons for coming.

Will I have to talk about what happened over there?

No. You will never be required to share your story, and no one will dig for it. The work here is about how your body and mind are running now — not re-living the past for an audience.

Is this group therapy?

No. This is experiential, peer-centered work — somatic tools, nature, and camaraderie. It complements clinical care; it does not replace it. Many attendees continue seeing their VA or private providers before and after.

How physically demanding is it?

Hikes and movement are scaled to the group, and every activity has a modification. If you can walk a trail at your own pace, you're likely a fit. Tell us about any limitations on your discovery call and we'll plan around them.

What about privacy and roommates?

Cohorts are kept intentionally small and confidentiality is a shared group commitment from day one. Share any comfort or privacy needs when we connect and we'll work with you.

What should I bring?

Clothes for the trail and the weather, sturdy shoes, and anything you need to sleep well. Lodging, meals, and all session materials are provided. A packing list comes with your confirmation.

What if I can't afford it?

Don't let cost be the reason you stay home. Scholarship seats for veterans are funded through The Willow Way Foundation — mention it on your discovery call and we'll talk options, no awkwardness.

What happens after the retreat?

You leave with a written daily practice and a plan — and the cohort stays connected. Sarah remains reachable, and many groups keep their own check-in rhythm going long after the mountain.
